Stone Age pottery is very simple, created in hand, without the use of a potter's wheel. Various bonding agents (chaff, sand, animal fat) are used to preserve the shape of the containers. The most advanced forms of this prehistoric pottery are figurines (Venus of Věstonice, etc.).
Although it was a very simple pottery, it is already decorated and the artistic feeling of prehistoric people is manifested here. The decoration had both an aesthetic and functional purpose to hold the containers better in the hand. Symbols such as a double-edged axe, various forms of an isosceles cross, a spiral, various depictions of crosses in circles, swastikas, etc. appear in the decoration.
