Flobert cartridges (All) – findings
Flobertka is a term mostly used for a firearm designed for a type of rimfire cartridge. These cartridges have the primer in a hollow rim at the bottom of the cartridge case. This implies that the gun must have an off-axis firing pin. The name of the gun is derived from the surname of the gunsmith Louis Flobert. Flobert rifles were made mostly as revolvers, but also as rifles.
Rimfire cartridges usually belong to the lower power category. Therefore, cartridges and guns of this type tend to be freely available (according to the Weapons Act, the energy of the projectile at the muzzle is max. 7.5 J). In any case, the age of 18 years is a prerequisite. Floberts are often used for shooting practice, for sport shooting at shorter distances or as small rodent weapons. The permissible muzzle energy of an air rifle is up to 16 J, more than twice as high.
