The detector find by an amateur archaeologist is the first Celtic gold hoard discovered in Brandenburg and the second largest found in Germany. According to experts, "the value of the ancient treasure must have been immense", archaeologists are talking about the find of a lifetime.

At the end of 1980, the corpse of archaeologist József Sümegh was discovered in a cellar on Köszár Hill, where he had committed suicide. He is said to have discovered about forty silver artefacts, including large wrought-iron bowls, jars and other decorated vessels. The so-called Seuso treasure was recovered by Hungary six years ago.

Cai Antoney recently discovered a Bronze Age axe and dagger in Shropshire. He made the discovery during an organised search involving three dozen people. He found the treasure while walking back to his car.

The bronze treasure was found nine years ago in a field near Líšt'any. It contained 105 objects from the older Bronze Age. They come from the so-called Unetic culture, i.e. from about four thousand years ago. The depot was discovered by a pair of prospectors with metal detectors.

Three years after its discovery, the public will apparently finally be able to see the Celtic treasure discovered by a trio of metal detectorists in the New Forest in England. The hoard contained nearly 300 Celtic coins. The museum must raise £37,500 to buy the hoard.

Archaeologists in the Cypriot town of Hala Sultan Tekke near Larnaca have uncovered a two-chambered tomb from the Late Bronze Age. The tomb dates from 1400 to 1300 BC. It contained a rich assortment of more than 500 pieces of imported luxury goods made of gold, silver, bronze, ivory, precious stones and richly decorated vessels from many cultures across the Mediterranean, the likes of which have never been found in Cyprus before.
