Markomania. The story of one tribe

On Saturday 28th May, the first year of the Living History Festival Markomania will take place at the Pičhora site near Dobřichov (Kolín district). The story of one tribe, which will deal with the culture of the first centuries AD in Bohemia.

EXHIBITION: Prehistory in Pavel Dvorský's illustrations

This year's season in the Pavlov Archaeopark will be enriched by a unique exhibition of a prominent representative of scientific illustration. He is a graphic designer and art teacher, academic painter Pavel Dvorský. Visitors will have the opportunity to see dozens of his original drawings, which were created in collaboration with prominent archaeologists and anthropologists.

What was found in the pantry? The composition of bio-waste in Roman times

The lecture will focus on one specific component of archaeological findings - archaeobotany. Plant macrofossils, i.e. the remains of parts of crops that people in the past grew, consumed, processed, or plants that that were found in the vicinity of their settlements, are a rich source of information about the everyday life of people in the past.

Coin treasure from Vysoká

The exhibition will present to the public the recent unique discovery of a coin depot from the village of Vysoká u Jevíčka

LANGOBARDS - the journey of a Germanic tribe across Europe

The lecture will be devoted to the story of the Langobard tribes and their migration across Europe, with special attention to the period when they settled the territory of Moravia (1st half of the 6th century).

Older Iron Age in the heart of Haná

New and often unique finds will be offered by the exhibition entitled The Older Iron Age in the Heart of Haná, which draws on rescue archaeological excavations of the Institute of Archaeological Heritage Care Brno, v.v.i. Prior to the construction of houses in Seloutky near Prostějov, a number of chamber graves from the Older Iron Age, more precisely the so-called Plateau Group of the East-Halstatic culture (7th to 6th century BC), were uncovered.

Celts, Brno and the stars

The exhibition will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the discovery of one of the "top" objects in the collections of the Institute of Archaeology of the MZM - a teapot with bronze applications from the Celtic burial site in Brno-Maloměřice (found on 3 May 1941).
