Navíc v Anglii,kde by měli šanci na rozumnou odměnu...I když hledali bez povolení majitele pozemku...
To by uvažující člověk neudělal ani u nás, kde by pravděpodobně dostal pakatel,a možná ani to ne... škoda,že se někam ztratil markymark...jistě by k věci měl spoustu připomínek...

George Powell and Layton Davies, who covered up the discovery of Viking treasure in Herefordshire four years ago, will have to pay heavily for their greed (and stupidity) once again. They were convicted of theft and concealing the find in 2019, for which they received prison sentences of 10 and 8.5 years respectively. Now a judge has ordered them to pay over £600,000 (about £16.5m) each within three months or have another five years added to their sentences.
The hoard of Anglo-Saxon coins, jewellery and silver ingots, deposited in the late 9th century, was discovered in 2015 in a field at Eye, near Leominster in Herefordshire. It was found on private land where Powell and Davies did not have permission to search. They concealed the discovery and, in addition, organised the sale of individual parts of the set on the black market.
By the time the authorities found out, thanks to the stupidity of the finders (who themselves boasted about photos of the find in situ on social media), the treasure had been sold off almost entirely. Only 29 of the estimated 300 coins were seized, which is literally a tragic loss, considering that the set contains e.g. extremely rare halfpennies of the "two emperors", which are reminiscent of the unknown alliance between King Alfred the Great of Wessex (849-899) and Ceolwulf II of Mercia (874-879).
The 29 coins were valued by the British Museum at half a million pounds (about 13.5 million crowns). The remaining 270 coins were valued at a minimum of £10,000 each. Judge Cartwright reduced the estimate by 10% to take account of potential damage and set the value of the missing coins at £2.4 million.
The coin dealer Simon Wicks, who resold some of their loot, was convicted along with the finders for concealment and failure to report. He was given a total of five years in prison. Judge Nicholas Cartwright believes that Powell and Davies still have some coins hidden, or at least know where the 270 missing coins have gone.
When the men were sentenced, the judge said that if they had acted in accordance with the law, that is, with permission to search the site, and if they had reported the find to PAS officials, they could have shared £3 million of the value of the hoard: "However, they acted dishonestly and without regard for the heritage and history of this country. Their greed has deprived the nation of a unique and valuable treasure," the judge said of the new sentence, which requires Davies to pay £603,180 and Powell £601,250 or both add another five years to their sentences.

U nás by to člověk odevzdal,a modlil se aby se na úřadě našel někdo rozumný,aby ho nezavřeli,a třeba ještě dostal nějaký pakatel na pivo....
anno.Domini.2059 Majitel pozemku zaplatí archeologický průzkum? Od kdy? Zase jeden mudrc, co si neumí nastudovat ani pár vět o tom, o čem vypisuje na internetu, a pak si to čtou další mudrcové a povídají si to v hospodě jako tutovku.

Pro negramotné - náklady archeologického výzkumu platí jen firma, resp. podnikatel, pokud staví něco, co bude sloužit ke generování zisku, a u toho naruší archeologickou situaci.

liborak: Nejchytřejší se necítím. A proto nepíšu náhodné komentáře o věcech, které jsou jasně definované v zákoně, ale prostě si ten zákon/vyhlášku přečtu, a případně pokud nerozumím, tak se zeptám, jak to funguje v praxi. Myslím, že Anno Domini pochopil, proč jsem to tak napsal. Prostě mě rozčiluje, když někdo na netu uveřejní něco, co je nepřesné nebo nějak zavádějící (v horším případě totální lež) a následně si to přečte dalších 150 lidí, a budou to brát jako vodu na mlýn pro svůj odpor k dané věci. Berte v potaz, že to tady čtou stovky, až tisíce lidí, a dělají si na detektoring, archeo ale i další věci dle toho názor. Přesně proto je internet nejen skvělý zdroj informací, ale taky hrozba. Protože cokoliv se tam napíše, velké procento lidí bere automaticky jako pravdu. Taky jsem si mohl celou tu věc vymyslet. Ale můj komentář měl spíš upozornit čtenáře, aby si to ověřili. Aby si obecně ověřovali informace, které čtou v diskuzích a na soukromých webech.
Jinak tedy abych napsal i něco k tomu článku - to jsou ale idioti. Že tohle někoho napadne ještě i v zemi, kde jsou ty zákony velmi štědré k nálezcům pokladů. Vždycky existuje nějaká legálnější varianta, i kdyby se nějak třeba domluvili s tím majitelem zpětně. Ale oni rovnou udělali tu největší blbost. A teď jsou slavní
