Some time ago, a new update for the Nokta Legend detector was released which again offers interesting new features. The most interesting of them is also the Beast mode :D,and the possibility to use two ground tunings in beast mode and especially the new dt.
Since I think the new features are not yet widely known in the community here, we decided to describe them in the following article.
In general, however, these are features that will allow the user to go to the real limits of the detector's capabilities, and therefore it is admittedly necessary to accept that some detector features such as ID accuracy and stability will not work as they normally do, but since you are at the edge of the physical capabilities of the detector and at maximum depths this is to be expected...
The dt (Deep Target Identification) function
Since in general as the target depth increases the signal from the coil is much weaker and much harder to process, the accuracy of the evaluation(ID) logically decreases until the detector senses that it is below the target.the detector can no longer reliably evaluate the target due to the weak unprocessable signal, which may cause some deeply buried non-ferrous targets to be evaluated as iron.
For this reason, a new dt function has been added to allow deep targets in these conditions to be identified as non-ferrous targets.
Beast mode.
While not quite suitable for normal comfort walking, this mode can be used on searches where you need to get the most out of the detector. This mode takes advantage of the extreme sensitivity of gold mode, which is why it is also only available in this mode.
In this mode it is also possible to detect targets that are too deep for standard modes, however as I wrote above it is always a quid pro quo and will be necessary and such deep targets will be without ID evaluation , or even with low ID (1-3).
In this mode it is also possible to use two GB settings, the new GB2 here allows for example the suppression of high mineralization on some sites.

Note: In the video you can set CZ subtitles (click on settings/subtitles and select English, then go back to the subtitle settings and select automatic translation).
Description of changes in SW version V1.17 for Nokta Legend metal detector
1) Pinpoint function has been improved.
2)Instability in pinpointing deep non-ferrous metals has been fixed.
3)Beach mode has been improved. Beaches with high mineralization may now have some deeper non-ferrous targets that previously detected as "ferrous" are now correctly detected as "non-ferrous".
4)The iron filter level 0 (zero) has been updated. Iron filter level 0 has been updated to better distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In highly contaminated sites, small gold objects that were previously detected as "ferrous" may now be detected as "non-ferrous".
Description of changes to the software since V1.15 for the Nokta Legend metal detector
1)DeepTarget Identification(dt) function has been added. This function allows to detect deep non-ferrous targets that have been hidden or detected as ferrous as non-ferrous.
To access this feature, select the recovery rate setting and press the pinpoint button. As you navigate using the right and left buttons, the letters "dt" will appear on the right side of the screen. You can change the dt setting value between 1-6 using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons. If the value is set to 0, the function is disabled. Increasing the value may decrease the stability of the device. This function is available in all frequency options for both multi and single frequencies.
2)Beast mode has been added. Very deep targets may have a response similar to the surrounding soil composition and therefore may not be detected. Beast mode allows targets to be detected at depths that cannot be detected in other modes.
This mode resets the ground balance settings, allowing detection of deep targets and larger objects. However, in this mode, targets at the edge of the detection range may not provide identification or may be unstable.
When switching to Beast mode, the "All Metal" discrimination pattern will be automatically selected. When switching from Beast mode back to Gold Field mode, the last selected discriminative pattern in Gold Field mode will be restored.
To activate this mode, press the frequency button in Gold Field mode. Beast mode is indicated on the screen by the letters "bE" under the multi-frequency M mode symbol.
3)A second function has been added to balance the ground in Beast mode.
Due to its configuration, Beast mode can cause the device to give false signals when soil conditions change or when mineralized rocks are present. This can cause user discomfort during detection. Beast mode offers users a second soil balance function to help overcome difficult soil conditions such as red bricks and other changes in the surrounding environment that have different properties than the surrounding soil.
With second soil balancing, depending on the soil properties, complete silence over these false targets can be achieved in some cases. In other cases, an intermittent signal can be heard.
To activate this function, press the soil balance button to open the settings. Then activate the second ground balance by pressing the frequency button. Once the second ground balance is activated, the number "2" will appear on the screen above the letters "Gb". The second ground balance can be performed by pressing the pinpoint button. When using Beast mode, the first and second ground balances can only be performed automatically. Manual soil balancing is not possible. You can return from the second ground balance to the first by pressing the frequency button.
4)Ability to reset the 1st and 2nd ground balance values in Beast mode.
When Beast mode is activated, the soil balance value can be reset by entering the soil balance menu and long pressing the up button. An animation will appear on the screen while the button is held down. To reset the value of the second soil balance, first activate the second balance. Then reset the value of the second balance by pressing the up button again.
5)Updates have been made to the soil balance menu.
- When selecting between FerroCheck (FC) and Mineralization Indicator (GI), the display of the "FC" or "GI" indicators have been moved from the right side of the screen to the left side.
- "FC" or "GI" indicators that remain on the screen until the menu is exited will be automatically removed after 2 seconds.
- When the Tracking function is activated, the ground balance level will flash on the screen. In Beast mode, when Soil Balance 2 is activated with Tracking enabled, the Soil Balance level will be displayed steadily to avoid confusion.
6)Iron Rejection function in Beast mode.
Beast mode, like Gold Field mode, identifies signals for both non-iron and iron targets by varying the pitch of the audio tone according to the strength of the received signal. To distinguish ferrous targets, especially those closer to the surface, the device will emita lower tone than for non-ferrous targets depending on the strength of the received signal.
To access this function, select the recovery rate setting and press the pinpoint button. The letters "Ir" will appear on the right side of the screen. You can change the value of the "Ir" setting between 1-5 using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons. If the value is set to 0, the function is disabled. Increasing the value increases the likelihood that an iron tone will be emitted for deep non-iron targets.
