New Nokta Makro TMD 101 metal detector - first taste

The first tests of the detector could not take place anywhere else than on our polygon. I was really curious about the new TMD 101. As one analogue after another slowly says goodbye, the demand for digitalfor the simplest possible operation and the highest possible performance. The TMD 101 is primarily designed for the police, which of course doesn't mean that it can only search for ammunition, but that its controls have been tailored so that anyone can handle it, even when they first pick it up. I think this has been done well, and although it is actually a mid-range detector, the controls really couldn't be simpler.

The detector's design is based on the new Anfibio and like the Anfibio it is fitted with a new 2D round coil. This gives, compared to the traditional 2D oval biaxial for Nokta, some extra centimetres of range and the performance is noticeable. The guide rod is telescopic and the detector can be quickly and conveniently folded into an already quite small size (76 cm).

There are only two working modes of the detector, motionless and motion, and the detector uses the classic two-tone discrimination (iron grunts, colors whistle). When testing the motionless detector, I couldn't help but think of all the local owners of old Zetexes. The TMD 101 has the motionlessness you've probably always dreamed of. It is very accurate and unambiguous. Even the retune button doesn't need to be used that often. Of course in motionless mode the detector traditionally suffers from worse discrimination but there is nothing you can do about that. In motion mode, the discrimination is perfect and the detector's response is accurate. Of course, with TMD 101 it is true that every colour is simply dug out. There is no identification and separation of colour targets by ID, but I don't think anyone who will buy this detector will miss that, simplicity and solid performance are the main priorities here.

The bonus is the total waterproofness up to 5 meters, the built-in battery and also the wireless transmitter for hearingNokta headphones, which are not included in the package, but can be purchased and on the other hand, the detector starts at a very decent price of 16.We will definitely play with the device further and will also probably do a bigger Cobra test over the holidays. However, given its simplicity, we can already say that no one will be disappointed and it will definitely find its fans among searchers. Especially among those who are looking for a detector as simple as possible and also equipped with a full motionless mode.
