Exhibition "Great Moravian Mikulčice virtually"
Categories: Invitations
25 August - 31 October 2022
Modern 21st century technologies are playing an increasing role in archaeology and other historical disciplines. They give archaeology the unique ability to examine objects from locations inaccessible in the real world, to go back in time virtually, or to view and analyse the finest details on recovered artefacts. This is clearly demonstrated by the exhibition "Great Moravian Mikulčice virtually", held between 24 August and 31 December. October 2022 by the Institute of Archaeology of the CAS, Brno, in its modern research base in Mikulčice.
The exhibition presents virtual models of archaeological objects and artefacts from the Mikulčice hillfort in the form of animations, holographic displays, augmented reality, etc. New possibilities of 3D documentation, visualization and analytical display are demonstrated on selected results of almost 70 years of archaeological research in Mikulčice. The exhibition focuses primarily on the possibilities of applying 3D documentation and other digital technologies to archaeological research, without, however, resigning itself to visual appeal.
