The article could be an answer to the basically everyday question about detectors for complete beginners, teenage searchers or in general for searchers who don't want to invest too much money at the very beginning and still want to avoid various Asian traps that resemble metal detectors only in name. So let's take a look at what can be bought today and does it make sense.

Right at the beginning of this article, we can start with a brand new product from First Texas (maker of Fisher, Teknetics and Bounty Hunter). The detector is called the Tracker Pro and it's the successor to the Lone Star Pro, which was made for many years. The biggest change with this beginner detector is in the coil. The detector uses a 7" / 18 cm "phisher" probe, which is therefore of better quality than the original 8" / 20 cm concentric and also has a higher output.

The detector is brand new and the first detectors will be for sale at the end of the week. The device is designed for beginners and is a classic "plug and go" metal detector. Although the equipment is spartan, thanks to the new 18cm coil, both the range and separation is certainly interesting, especially when you consider the price/performance ratio, as the detector will cost 3.Even the original Lone Star Pro used to be a thousand crowns more expensive, so the price is quite a pleasant surprise. Despite its low price, the detector uses NOTCH discrimination and three-tone audio discrimination and will perform what the undemanding user imagines.

Metal Detector Minelab Go Find 22

The Minelab Go Find 22 also starts at the same price. The Go Find series detectors are manufactured with storage in mind and thus have their specific design, which suits some people and others prefer the classic conservative one. Minelab In fact, the entire Go Find line was designed as a detector to take with you in your backpack on a trip or when you go camping. The Go Find 22, like most detectors in this category, uses only single frequency VLF technology.

The range of the detector is average, so the separation is not exceptional. However, the price of the detector is CZK 3,990 incl. VAT, which can be said to correspond exactly to what you get.

The class up to 4.000 CZK is basically sold out. So there are also children's detectors from Nokta, but they are only for children (mainly because of the length). Let's take a look at the class 1,000 CZK more expensive, that is up to 5,000 CZK, where thanks to Teknetics there are two detectors that used to be significantly more expensive.

Teknetics EuroTec Pro metal detector

A detector designed for beginners that has been on sale for some time. Thanks to the fact that Teknetics does not have a new line of detectors all the time, it has come with a price below 5.000 CZK. Even though this is a beginner detector, there are already some features of detectors a class higher, such as the V-Break® and FeTone®. Of course, we cannot expect that they will be the same in terms of performance, but for a price under CZK 5,000 it is, like other Teknetics, a very interesting choice if the searcher does not want or cannot invest more.

Teknetics Minuteman metal detector

A detector designed for beginners, which was originally a replacement for the discontinued BH Quick Draw Pro detector. As with the EuroTec Pro, you can find some features from more advanced detectors and with a price under 5,000 CZK, you're definitely getting a decent device for your money here. As with the BH Tracker Pro, which is priced lower than the Lone Star Pro was, the Minuteman is priced lower than the original Quick Draw Pro was. Despite its simplicity, you'll find a motionless pinpoint mode, identification using large ID numbers in the 1-99 range, or the FeTone® feature.

At a price of 4,000 CZK to 5,000 CZK, this is basically all that is interesting and we can look at metal detectors in the range of 5,000 CZK to 6,500 CZK, where we will therefore only deal with devices that make sense.

Metal detector Garrett Ace 200i

The "Ace" detectors have been with us for a long time and the 200st started production in 2016. The Ace 150 is still available, but I'd rather pay extra for the new version. The 150 started being made around 2003 I think. The whole Ace line was very popular and had a huge fan base at the beginning of production. It was basically the first "small" digital metal detector.

Metal detector Minelab Go Find 66

The highest model of the Minelab "jigsaw" is the Go Find 66 metal detector. The detector has extended settings and also higher performance than the GoFind 22. There are 4 search modes, motionless pinpoint tracking etc. Otherwise, the same applies here as for the 22. The detector is made with foldable design in mind and for people who take the detector on vacation or on trips.

Nokta Simplex Lite metal detector

The Simplexes are now in their second generation and the smallest model, which carries the Lite designation, is well below the price of 7.000, making it a truly affordable detector suitable for beginners and advanced users alike, combining high quality, deep detection and ease of use with a host of modern features. Although it is a single frequency detector ( VLF technology), it is definitely a device worth considering in this price range.

Metal detector Minelab Vanquish 340

In terms of technology, range and evaluation, the Vanquish 340 is completely out of its category. The detector, which costs CZK 6,190 incl. VAT, is equipped with Multi IQ technology. Even though the performance is a little cut down, even a pro can easily find his way around with such a detector without considering it a waste of time. The only downside of the detector is the spartan equipment, which contains only the essentials. The Vanquish 340 detector is now also on sale Minelab with the Pro Find 15 tracking device priced at CZK 2,000 for the price of CZK 6,990 incl. VAT.

Teknetics Liberator metal detector

The last one to fit within our limit is the Teknetics Liberator. The detector has a number of features found in many of the more expensive detectors. It is also fitted with a 2D biaxial probe, which First Texas already uses in high quality detectors. Thus, although it is only a VLF detector operating at a single frequency, it is due to the current price Teknetics' current "no new model, we sell at a fraction of the price" policy, it is definitely an interesting choice for any beginner.

These nine detectors are devices that can definitely be recommended to anyone starting out. In fact, I could still add the Fisher F11 to the list, but these have been unavailable for some time now. If I had to mention a winner in this price category, it would definitely be the Vanquish 340, due to the fact that it is the most technologically advanced multi-frequency detector Multi IQ technology, the Noktu Simplex Lite, which is fully waterproof, and the Teknetics Liberator, which already uses many features from higher-end detectors.

But maybe you only have £4,000 to buy now, or you just don't want to invest more, then I think the obvious choice is the new Bounty Hunter Tracker Pro.
