The most famous prisoner of Špilberk, the commander of the Pandurs, Baron František Trenck, died on 4 October 1749. He was buried in the tomb of the Capuchin monastery in Brno, where his body was naturally mummified. The exhibition Baron Trenck: The Mystery of the Mummy summarises the results of research by a team of specialists using the most modern methods of forensic anthropology, forensic medicine and molecular biology.
Those who visit the exhibition will learn what has been discovered about the elite leader of the Empress Maria Theresa's contemporaryscientific methods and how this information was used to reconstruct Trenck's face and body. The faithful 3D reconstruction of Baron Trenck's form was one of the first in the world to be made completely digitally and in motion.
The exhibition pays tribute to the exemplary collaboration between the historical, natural and technical sciencesdisciplines, but also to an extraordinary historical personality who is also linked to the history of the town of Bílovec.
