The honest finder pleased the staff of the Museum of the Wallachia Region. He handed over the rare point of a bronze spear. Such weapons were available to warriors in the early and late Bronze Age.

The tip was discovered by a finder near Valašské Meziříčí. The artifact was then given to a restorer, who performed a basic treatment. Subsequent professional processing was already up to the archaeologist. This is the first find of a weapon of this type in Wallachia.

"About 11 centimeters long, the elegantly shaped spearhead with sleeves and holes for attaching a vault and a flamingo leaf comes from an area outside the well-known settlement," said archaeologist Samuel Španihel from the Museum of the Wallachia Region.

He was thrilled by the find, although it could not be obtained through archaeological research. "The spear is a valuable and unique document of times long past and testifies not only to the technical prowess, but also to the aesthetic sense of our distant ancestors," said the archaeologist.

Such a variant of the spear was produced by casting in the Late Bronze Age. At that time, Wallachia was inhabited, quite densely by prehistoric conditions, by the people of the Lusatian garbage dump culture. Its craftsmen excelled in working with bronze, which had already penetrated significantly into all branches of human activities and was used by every social class.

According to Španíhel, the bronze spear was a mass weapon that was fought mainly by ordinary warriors, but it was not avoided even by the greatest heroes. "A better-equipped warrior usually had a spear and a spear. He threw the second weapon from a distance at the enemy and with the first attacked the contact fight. For example, just remember the Trojan War, where many battles of Greek herons take place. Especially the most famous - Achilles versus Hector - demonstrates, albeit with a slight exaggeration, the effective use of spears in combat, "said the archaeologist.

He added that both apparently fought with a weapon that was very similar to the spear found in Valašské Meziříčí. "Today, it has been proven that this type of flame-tipped tip evolved in Central Europe and, with the help of migrating war groups, reached the Eastern Mediterranean," Španihel concluded. Archaeologists in the Rychnov region, for example, found the tip of the bronze spear two years ago.
