An incredible thing happened to a man from France who inherited a house in Normandy. When he moved in, he discovered gold bars and coins in the bathroom. An expert valued the treasure at 3.5 million euros.

The Frenchman found the treasure when he decided to renovate the bathroom. When he looked closely, he noticed that there was a depression in the floor. He found a crate of whisky, the kind normally used to store whisky. When he looked inside, he found gold bars and coins.

The man picked up the find and took it to the auction house. In addition to the bricks and coins, the crate contained old posters. The discovery of so much gold is unique. According to the auction house expert, the treasure was stored in the late 1950s or early 1960s.

"It was five thousand gold coins, two gold bars weighing twelve kilograms and 37 kilograms of castings," said Évreux auctioneer Nicolas Fierfort.

The location of the treasure was very cleverly hidden. Namely, under furniture, piles of laundry, and in the aforementioned box and in a metal box screwed under the furniture.

The auction house then sold the items to French and foreign bidders. However, the provenance of the treasure was carefully investigated. There was a danger that one of the living relatives of the deceased might claim the objects and try to prove that the gold was his.

In the end, no such thing happened and the man who inherited the house got the money. A proportionate share, that is, since 45 percent of the sale went to the state by law.
