The metal detectorists of the West Riding Detector Group felt like they had hit the jackpot eleven years ago. For near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire they found 178 silver coins dating back to the twelfth century.

A 70-year-old pensioner from Kysuc, Slovakia, found a real treasure in his garden in 2000. He discovered a clay pot containing 1658 coins. The oldest comes from the reign of Matthias Corvinus.

A depot of Roman coins was discovered by archaeologists ten years ago in Colchester, England. The treasure was located near the former barracks. Specifically, two pots, one of which contained 1247 coins.
