31 Oct 2013 Treasure from Rýmařov Square

Eight years ago, extensive research was carried out in the centre of Rýmařov in connection with the total reconstruction of Peace Square and Radniční Street. The archaeologists discovered the foundations of a house from the thirteenth century, but also a number of artefacts such as an axe-mlat or earrings.

When a migrant treasure is found

A beautifully preserved set of several thousand silver denarii from the 1st and 2nd century. century was found along with other artefacts near the city's oldest quarter, Oberhausen, on the site of a planned residential development.

Four years ago, Hurricane Herwart swept through the Czech Republic, leaving a lot of damage in its wake. The church in Staré Křečany in the Děčín region was destroyed. It contained a treasure trove of old documents and coins.

23.10.2014 Galloway Treasure

Hundreds of gold and silver objects were discovered in autumn 2014 by a prospector with a metal detector in Scotland. Experts say it was the rarest Viking find in the country since the nineteenth century. The depot contained bracelets, crosses and brooches.

Four Bronze Age chisels were found on the Isle of Wight. They were discovered by a novice detectorist on one of her first search expeditions three years ago. The chisels were declared treasure at a hearing at Wight Coroner's Court this week.

Axes, bronze bracelets and gold hair ornaments were found eight years ago by a mathematics teacher from Ústí nad Labem when he went for a walk with his dog. He was intrigued by a path that had been ploughed by wild boars. He was the first to discover the bronze axes.

The Celestial Disk of Nebra: Unique detector find of the "oldest star map" abroad for the first time

The disk of Nebra is believed to be the oldest star chart in the world. It was found by two illegal prospectors with metal detectors in Mittelberg, Germany, near Nebra. The 3,600-year-old bronze artefact from the Unetian culture is considered one of the most important archaeological finds of the 20th century. ...but its credibility is disputed by some.
