Dear colleagues, just out of interest, please tell us what is the most remote, most exotic coin /place of discovery-origin of the coin/ you have found. The coin should date back to 1939 when regular airline service across the Atlantic began.

15.10.2012 Motocrossers drove the pennies of Václav IV out of the country.

An incredible thing happened nine years ago in Radč in the Trutnov region. Motocrossers there were so wild that they drove silver coins from the reign of Wenceslas IV out of the ground. They immediately contacted the museum.

28 Sep 2006 Speleologists discover over 800 coins

The treasure from the thirteenth century was acquired fifteen years ago by the Central Bohemia Region. Over 800 silver coins were discovered by two amateur speleologists while searching for new caves. The hoard was found in a ceramic container hidden under stones.

Pensioner hiding £75,000 coin collection

A rare collection of coins was hidden by seventy-two-year-old John Cross of Canterbury. Experts say it's worth £75,000 and contains some really rare coins. The treasure was only discovered after the pensioner's death. He was living alone in a caravan.

21 Sep 2014 Mushroom hunter finds 102 Roman coins

Roman coins were discovered by a mushroom picker in the Bruntál region seven years ago. Apparently, a trader lost them. The finder gave the treasure to the museum. In total, it was a depot of 102 coins.

Divers discover a unique treasure trove of gold coins from the fall of the Roman Empire

One of Europe's largest collections of Roman gold coins has been discovered in a shallow shoal off the coast near the town of Xàbia in Alicante, southeastern Spain. The gold solids date from the late 4th to early 5th century; all but one are in excellent condition.

The treasure discovered last year by a couple in the woods near the Kladruby monastery in the Tachov region is worth around four million crowns. The depot contained 435 gold and silver coins from the 14th century.

9 Sep 2015 Pennies under the chapel floor

Coins from the seventeenth century were discovered by archaeologists in the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Dobrčice with the help of metal detectors. These included a silver denarius of Emperor Matthias II. "The youngest coin found is a silver denarius of Matthias II from 1611 minted in the Kremnica mint.

5 Sep 2017 Arab coin from Uherské Hradiště

A rare Arab coin from the eighth century and other objects from the Middle Ages were discovered four years ago by archaeologists in Uherské Hradiště when they were exploring the cellar of the former elementary art school. They also found a deformed gold bracelet.
